This morningstar sculpture, entitled The Healer, carries symbols painted on the surface to create a visual play on words of the colloquial phrase “catch these hands”- a warning pre-empting a fight. this work also references the Hand of Fatima, a religious symbol for the feminine Holy Hand that protects one against evil forces. The Healer doubles as a prop in the 2022 video work Infinity Commute. All the elements of my practice weave in and out of each other like this. They are not separate channels of working, but distinct fragments of a whole world. Even this object was made from a drawing entitled Apothecary, 2016 (not pictured in this portfolio) which is a flamboyant blueprint for different weapons and ritualistic tools.
