The Usher
Amaryllis R. Flowers, 2023
40 in x 30 in x 61in
Ceramic, holographic film, sculpey, resin, synthetic human hair

A large lovesick nerikomi ceramic figure with her arms stretched out in welcome and longing. Her body is built from psychedelic patterns in dark brown, gray yellow, and bone white clays. Long open arms are heavy with light iridescent film hanging from bicep to palm making her transformer arms into weird wings. Rough human hands with broken nails protrude out of the wings and horns on the back of her neck which hold a dentada crown in place. A foot above her head is an amethyst and bubble gum side ponytail. Her eyes are heart shaped holes, peering at you from somewhere.
