The Grave Laughs Back
Amaryllis R. Flowers, 2019-present
This work witnesses four cracked mirrored tombstones reflecting foot-printed sand, raising the footprints to touch the horizon line where the ocean meets the sky in arches that break the water up into graves. The wind blows, the waves rise and fall, the tombstones jiggle and shake. This short video segment documents an experience at the ocean off of Fire Island, NY in 2019, continuing a series which began in the dark of my studio in 2018.
