Shadow Toucher
Amaryllis R. Flowers, 2021
22 in x 30 in
Watercolor, graphite, color pencil, gouache, and airbrush on paper

Drawing on paper. A gray human femme creature curls up in tall dark waving grass rippling around her and licking her shadowy body, making more shadows in the shapes of waves across her limbs. Blue iridescent eye silhouettes flicker around the grass like lightning bugs. Her eyes are acid yellow star portals tilted up towards a blackening sky covered in tiny mouths which are breathing hot pink and orange fires all around. She sits in a crouch, drawing her limbs up around her protectively, and reaches out a hand to touch the sky mouths. All around her hand are gentle bursts of translucent flame. Her body is covered in hot pink ears, a body that takes in and takes in.
